Expanding our O&M portfolio in Latvia. KNESS Baltic has taken one of the largest solar power plants in the country, with a capacity of 147 MW, and its 110/30 kV high-voltage substation under comprehensive maintenance. The facility is owned by the Danish international company European Energy. This is already the second SPP in KNESS’s O&M portfolio that ranks among the most powerful in the region.

As the single maintenance partner for this project, KNESS Baltic provides a full range of services under the O&M contract for the solar power plant and high-voltage substation:

●      24/7 monitoring of high-voltage equipment and facility operation

●      coordination with transmission system operators (Augstsprieguma tīkls (AST)

●      performing operational switching

●      periodic visual inspections of equipment condition

●      scheduled preventive and corrective maintenance: both at the SPP and at the substation

●      thermal imaging inspection of current-carrying parts and solar modules

●      maintenance of the facility: mowing vegetation, maintaining roads and drainage channels, and other tasks.

For large RES projects with their own high-voltage substations, having a single maintenance partner for all facilities ensures a systematic approach, coordinated staff interaction, uniform response protocols, and adherence to common standards. This approach allows for the prompt, safe, and effective prevention of any emergencies and risks. That is why KNESS Baltic provides ecosystem-based services for the operation of all components at RES facilities and assumes full responsibility for the professional maintenance of energy assets.

European Energy (European Energy A/S) is a Danish international renewable energy company founded in 2004. The company develops, implements, and maintains solar and wind power projects, as well as energy storage systems, in over 20 countries around the world.

KNESS Baltic team is currently implementing a large-scale project in Latvia for the construction of 55 MWh of energy storage systems within the perimeter of solar power plants (co-location).

The team is currently in the process of installing energy storage systems at six SPPs, with a total capacity of 55 MW. The projects utilize storage systems with the capacities of 5.016 MWh and 4.18 MWh from the global manufacturer HiTHIUM, with which KNESS has a distribution partnership. The ESS configuration was selected individually for each facility, taking into account the specific operating model within the electricity market.

The “transformation” of solar power plants into hybrid facilities is carried out under an EPC contract, which entails responsibility for the entire project lifecycle: from design to grid connection.
